Description

It started as a small, but courageous demonstration a few hundred people in 1979, 10 years after the legendary riots of gays, lesbian and transgenders against the constant police-razzias in New York, the Berlin Christopher Street Day grew up to a parade of hundrets of thousands of people.
In 2009 it took place for the 31th time, this years motto was "Step by step to equal rights". Self-confident and hilarious, but still couraged, the community celebrated with its friends and visitors from all over the world – around 550.000 people filled the streets.
A lot of events took place around the CSD, for example the gaylesbian football cup "Come Together", a swing-night at the famous zoo of Berlin, the gay village fair in Schöneberg or the CSD boat trip on Berlins big river, the Spree. Christopher Street Day Berlin (CSD Berlin) or Gay Pride berlin's Parade is scheduled fort he 19th of June. In 2010 the big parade will follow a route from the Kurfurstendamm to the Siegesäule.

It will finsh at the Brandenburg Gate, where the Pride Finale will take place until midnight. We cannot think of any better location than the Brandenburg Gate, in the middle of Germany´s Political center, to fight for equality.

The parade is part of a larger festival, The Berlin Pride Festival which lasts from the 28th of May to the 20th of June 20.10
